Makaton and Signalong

​We offer Makaton and Signalong training to our parents/carers and also to our children’s teachers and teaching assistants with accredited tutors. They both support our children’s language and communication skills. Which one is accessed depends on the area in which the child is living.

Makaton

​Makaton uses symbols, signs and speech and is essential for our children to support their means of communication and spoken language. It alleviates the frustration of not being able to communicate and to be understood whilst their language is developing.

Signalong

Signalong is based on British Sign Language and is a key word sign-supported communication system. Like Makaton it is essential for our children to support their means of communication and spoken language. It alleviates the frustration of not being able to communicate and to be understood whilst their language is developing.
